Illinois ranked as one of the least expensive states for car insurance
Posted on March 13th, 2012
Illinois took the 41st spot in a new survey by Insure.com that ranked states according to car insurance rates. Drivers in Illinois pay less for auto insurance than most of the country, averaging a yearly rate of $1,192. Louisiana residents pay more than double with an average of $2,536, making it the most expensive state.
More than good or bad driving and what kind of car you own affect rates. Insurance companies also consider the area’s crime rate, recent natural disasters, amount of uninsured drivers, and state insurance laws.
The most expensive states for car insurance usually have a lot of uninsured drivers and see high levels of insurance companies award accident victims.
Driving without insurance can have significant financial and legal repercussions. If you live in Illinois and are looking for affordable car insurance, contact the car insurance agents of Insure on the Spot at 888-972-SAVE today.

Study shows teens less inclined to get their drivers license
Posted on January 26th, 2012
A study conducted by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute has shown that teens in Illinois are less motivated and excited to get their drivers licenses than in years past.
In 1983, 80 percent of 18 year olds had their drivers license, but in 2008 the numbers dropped to 65 percent. As always, the cost of driving is high for new drivers. The cost of gas, car insurance, and a car can all be deterrents for teenagers planning to drive.
West Aurora High School senior, Rachel Berry, stated, “I waited until I was 16 and a half (to take my test).” She also said that many of her friends also waited, and some are still without licenses.

Nationwide cell phone ban while driving proposed
Posted on December 15th, 2011
The National Highway Traffic Safety Board announced on Tuesday a proposal across the country to ban all cell phone use while driving.
In August 2010, a car accident in Gray Summit, MO killed two people and injured 38 others. It was later found that prior to the accident, the 19 year old driver who was responsible for the accident sent 11 text messages in 11 minutes. This incident was the impetus for the Board’s proposal.
“More than 3,000 people lost their lives last year in distraction-related accidents…no call, no text, no update, is worth a human life,” stated Chairwoman Deborah A.P. Hersman.
This proposal sends a strong message to legislatures responsible for changing laws regarding cell phone use.
Jesse White creates Safe Driver Advisory Council
Posted on November 10th, 2011
On Thursday, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White proposed a resolution, which was approved 51-0 in the state senate, to make Illinois roads safer.
The proposal was sponsored by House Representative John D’Amico (D-Chicago) and Senator Toi Hutchinson (D-Chicago Heights). D’Amico, Hutchinson, and White will establish the Safe Driver Advisory Council.
White stated, “We have strengthened the commercial driving license (CDL) process, we have bolstered teen driving laws, we have cracked down on drunk driving and expanded the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device (BAIID) program, and we have targeted distracted driving, just to name some areas of success. Yet I believe even the best laws and the best programs can be made better, and more lives can be saved. That is the over-riding goal of the Safe Driver Advisory Council: to save lives.”

New law in Illinois emphasizes importance of insurance against uninsured motorists
Posted on October 20th, 2011
According to Online Auto Insurance, a new law in Illinois emphasizes the importance of drivers having insurance for damages caused by uninsured motorists. As it is a requirement in the state of Illinois, it is extremely important that drivers in Illinois inquire about uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage when researching car insurance policies.
Policies for uninsured/underinsured motorists are made to protect drivers in the event they are involved in a collision with a motorist who is either uninsured or whose liability limits are too low and therefore cannot cover paying for damages and injuries. These policies also cover damages for hit-and-run accidents.
In 2009, the Insurance Research Council estimated that 15 percent of all motorists in Illinois were uninsured.
