Easy ways to save on teen car insurance
Posted on May 1st, 2012
If your child has recently started driving, you know how expensive it can be to purchase car insurance for them. While there’s really no way around paying more for covering your teen, there are many ways to keep the increase as small as possible.
- It may be cheaper to add your child to your own car insurance policy that purchasing an individual policy. That way all your discounts you’ve earned also apply to your teen.
- Check to see if your insurance company offers good student discounts. Students that make a B or higher are eligible for the discount.
- You can save a lot of money if your new driver takes a defensive driving course. Insurance companies offer lower premiums and your child can learn valuable driving techniques.
- Shop around for the best prices. While your insurance policy may be the least expensive for you, it could be extremely costly for teen drivers.

Chicago named as city with worst speed traps
Posted on March 27th, 2012
Chicago has been listed as the number nine city in the country with the worst speed traps, according to a Yahoo! article. Chad Dornsife, director of the Highway Safety Group, says outdated traffic-control devices, red-light cameras, and local politicians are major contributions to Chicago’s speed traps.
Red-light cameras enhance the city’s ticketing power, making it nearly impossible to dispute a fine. Dornsife also notes how speed limits all over the country have become revenue generators instead of a form of safety– increasing the demand for speed traps.
The speed limits, as well as court enforcement, on interstates that run through Chicago are controlled by the local politicians and not determined factual studies of traffic.
